What is Scoop Setting ?

Scoop setting is a safe form of setting as the small 'ticks' of gold holding the diamond in are below the outside rim of the setting, so are well protected from wear.

Also the diamond looks larger in a scoop setting compared to rubover as it is not hidden by any metal and is surrounded by a single circular bright cut broken up only by the 'ticks'.
